Thank you for registering for data protection training with the Macular Society. This is a short and interactive session where you will learn more about data protection and how it is an important part of your volunteer role. There will also be a chance for Q&A at the end.

What to expect from the training session

In this training, we’re going to look at how we handle personal data. We will cover some of the key data protection regulations and how they apply to everyday activities; from emailing the group about the next meeting, to collecting new member forms or using a printed register.

We all have a role to play in protecting the data we handle, and this online training is an opportunity to remind ourselves of the regulations and discuss how they can be applied in practice when running a group.

Content of the session

  • Introductions
  • Some of the theory behind Data Protection Regulation
  • A group discussion using some examples
  • Who to ask for further information

What we ask of you

Come ready to participate and give examples of what’s been working for you, top tips, or even some honest near misses! We want this to be an open forum where we can share best practice and understand any issues faced when running a group.

This session will be taking place via Zoom. Please select a time that suits you below. All sessions are the same, we encourage you to pick one you are available to attend.

There are new sessions available each month. If none of these sessions are suitable, please check back soon for updated dates or contact volunteer@macularsociety.org
