As part of a new collaboration the Macular Society has partnered with MACU-SAVE GOLD+ to launch a series of easy-to-follow, healthy recipes, full of ingredients that are good for your eyes.

The recipes have been created by Neleta Winter, a registered nutritionist, who has designed a range of dishes featuring ingredients known to support good eye health.

While the causes of macular disease are not fully understood, researchers believe a combination of factors contribute to the condition. These include age, genetics, smoking, sunlight exposure, and diet.

Nutrient-rich recipes

One of the most important ways you can protect your sight is by eating a diet rich in antioxidants such as vitamins A, C and E. Carotenoids - lutein and zeaxanthin - are also particularly beneficial for eye health.

The healthy recipes include nutrient-rich ingredients such as dark leafy greens, brightly coloured vegetables, nuts, seeds, and oily fish. Whether you’re looking for a quick snack or a full meal, these dishes make it simple to look after your eyes.

“These recipes are designed to be both delicious and nourishing, featuring ingredients that are proven to support healthy eyes,” said Neleta “By incorporating a balanced diet full of key nutrients like antioxidants and carotenoids, you can play an active role in reducing the risk of eye conditions and protect your overall eye health."
